One week with my iPhone 6 plus

The iPhone 6 plus

The iPhone 6 plus

I own an iPhone 5s and so far my experience was it has an amazing camera which is good for instagram. It also has a good retina screen that really makes watching YouTube videos fun. I did productive work with that smart phone like posting short blogs and responding to emails.

Bigger is better!

The iPhone 5s is slick and classy compared to Samsung or other smart phones in the market(ewww). But let’s face it: it’s so small. Steve Jobs used to say that “who needs a bigger phone?” But that was 2007. In 2015, people use their iPhones as their secondary computers. In some countries where buying a Macbook is not an option, iPhones become their primary computing tool.

When I saw the advert for the iPhone 6 plus, I knew  that it’s the iPhone for me. So I went to the iStore and checked out the 6 before moving to the plus. The iPhone 6 is ok but it isn’t big enough. I like the gold and I think that gold and white are elegant colors. After a few minutes I decided to splurge-which was not easy as it cost me many months of salary. But I never regret the decision because after getting one, I felt fulfilled. And I tell you, please don’t laugh at me when I say that owning a Mac or the latest iPhone is almost a spiritual experience.

Power and durability.

If you want the best, then you gotta pay for it. In the end it is worth it because of its durability and design. After a week I admired the productivity it has given me. I blog, post and also chat using this new iPhone. And I listen to music all the time. I don’t mind the massive size. It is not something that gets in the way. It is not really hard to put inside my jeans pocket and it doesn’t bend! Haha.

There is no going back. The iPhone 5s looks and feels very small now. It is still an elegant gadget but hey, size does matter!

Apple releases iOS 8.1.1!

Guess what? It’s another iOS update today. Apple’s just released iOS 8.1.1 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It promises the usual bug fixes and security updates, and Apple says the latest release should speed things up on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. These are two of the company’s raging devices. That sounds great considering that people want to hold on to their old iPhones and iPads. And you can’t blame them if they feel that iPad 2 is better to carry around due to it’s weight. There are still people who are not so fussy about having a retina display. But there are those who would raise hell at the mere sight of pixels. OK I am exaggerating here but hey you can’t really have it all. To have those hi def displays, there are compromises that should happen, which means adding battering which leads to more weight.

It will take an hour before my iPhone is done installing iOS 8.1.1 but Apple never failed me. I know this update will be good. I will let you know what happens in my next post.

Free Download: Microsoft Office Apps for iPhone and iPad.

Woooah! I just downloaded the Microsoft Office Apps on my iPhone and they look so cool! Well, they are obviously small because I haven’t tried this on the iPad yet but if you want to edit things on the fly then these are the best tools you can have. I highly recommend these for people on the go. You need to have a Microsoft account in order to edit and compose. The Power Point also looks awesome and manageable on an iPhone 5s’ screen. But I bet they will look better when you have an iPhone plus or iPad.  These are three apps that are currently available for free download: Word, Excel and Power Point.

This is good for those who have been using Microsoft Office for a long time. I can live without it but still, it is easy to use and VERY familiar. I have provided screenshots from my iPhone to let you so how good they are. OS X Daily has the full article here:

Evernote is the best blogging tool!

I used to have an android tablet. I had Evernote but I found no practical uses for it as it is hard to type on-screen. I also tried it on my Windows laptop but it was just there and finally I had to uninstall it because I found no practical uses for it.

After getting my awesome Macbook air, I found myself blogging more and more as the Apple keys are the best in the market. As my productivity grew, so is my love for accessing what I have written across devices. I can now type something with my iPhone and then finish it with my Mac. There is this seamless productivity between devices and that is why I am loving Evenote. Even now as I am typing this blog I don’t have to think hard. I just have to follow my instincts. I also don’t like the idea of using too many text apps as they can be messy. I can always return to my notes when I have the time.

I also found this productive for work. I can use it to edit text or just compose something on the fly and then delete it later. I can also take pics with my iPhone and then blog about these pics. There is nothing quite like Evernote. How about you? Have you tried using Evernote? How’s the experience so far?
